Riverside, CA - August 27, 2003
Officer Shannon Distel died in the line of duty while patrolling on his motorcycle in Riverside. A pick-up truck pulling a trailer turned in front of Distel's motorcycle. The vehicles collided and Distel was ejected. He landed in a patch of grass 50 yards from the collision. The driver of the other vehicle was subsequently arrested.
